A lovely evening was recently held to honour and thank the prefects of 2016. Their hard work and dedication to the school has been remarkable. The prefects in turn thanked their facet teachers for all that they had done.
The year is nearly over and some truly amazing friendships have been formed. All that remains one last hard push. Happy studying.
Danville Park Girls’ High School held their annual Market Day on Break Up Day this year. The girls were invited to create a product and sell it and there were some really innovative ideas. There were loads of eats, beauty products as well as plants, jewellery and clothes. Much fun was had by all and it was deemed a successful day as it was a “sell out”.
Danville Park Girls’ High School recently held its 3rd Sports Dinner, honouring no fewer than *9* South African and *51* KwaZulu-Natal representatives for the year. These outstanding achievements were accomplished across netball, action netball, hockey, soccer, swimming, water-polo, canoeing, karate, gymnastics, surfing, long-boarding, underwater hockey, biathlon, duathlon, surf life-saving, volleyball, horse-riding and endurance horse-riding.
Danville’s *9* South African representatives are: Tegan (SA Youth Academy Team -Triathlon), Sabina (SA marathon canoeing), Kevasha (Karate), Caitlyn (Action Netball), Skye (Action Netball), Catherine (Action Netball), Clarissa (Action Netball), Nikisha (SA Gymnastics) and Kirthi (SA Gymnastics)
The guest of honour was retiring Principal, Mrs Cally Maddams who has done so much for sport at Danville over the last twenty five years. One of the highlights was the announcement of Team of the Year which went to the First Netball team who have had a phenomenal year. In Action Netball , the first team won the gold medal and were undefeated. In term two, they only lost one game during the season ,won all the provincial rounds of the National Schools Challenge and traveled up to Boksburg to represent KZN.
Danville Park Girls’ High School recently celebrated the announcement of its prefect portfolios for 2017 at a formal assembly attended by parents, pupils and staff. Cailin has been appointed as Head-Girl, Merilee as Deputy Head-Girl, Sinethemba as the Representative Council of Learners (RCL) president and Jneya as the Deputy President.
The SANESA qualifier was held this past weekend at Shortlands Riding Centre. SANESA is a vibrant and dynamic organization, acknowledged by the South African Equestrian Federation (SAEF) and SASCOC, and has dedicated itself to promoting all forms of Equestrian sport within the South African schools’ community. Two pupils from Danville Park Girls’ High School, Surisha (grade 8)and Alison (grade 11) competed and their results were amazing. Surisha on Rough Diamond came 1st in Level 1 Equitation, Working Hunter and Performance Riding and 3rd in the 70 cm Jumping.
Alison who rode on her horse Phoenix Baccarat came 1st in Level 7 Equitation and 1st in Level 5 1.10m Jumping. Alison also came 1st in Level 6 Jumping (1.20 m) on her horse, Don’t Tell Titch.
With these results, Surisha and Alison have made the KZN Schools Equestrian Team .
The KZN awards evening will be held on Friday 23 September and the SANESA Nationals will take place at Misty Meadows in Pretoria from 6-8 October.
Danville Park Girls’ High School recently showcased the outstanding artwork of Grade 12 learners at an evening exhibition. Renowned artist and art teacher, Joanne Hicks inspired these promising artists to keep dreaming until they find their unique artistic voices. The motivated Art learners lived up to Danville’s exceptional standard, displaying creative and accomplished artworks. Last year, four learners achieved 100% in their final NSC Art exams!
Perfect spring weather, delicious eats and drinks and outrageously fun-filled activities all contributed to making the Fun Day a memorable family affair at Danville Park Girls’ High school this year. Not only does the whole Danville family participate in this popular event on the school calendar, but it is also well supported by the Durban North community. Classes competed against each other to have the most successful stalls. Seen here are Grade 11s and Mrs Lorien van Staden selling their delicious ice cream.
Pupils from Danville Park Girls’ High School recently took part in the their athletics day. The girls showed their support for the various houses – Hollander, Smith, Campbell and Palmer and took the opportunity to wear colourful outfits. They also encouraged the athletes to outrun the competition, but it was Tegan Gore and Siobhan Brown who eventually took the honours as Junior and Senior Victrix Ludorum ,respectively. The final scores were tight, but in the end Palmer was triumphant and won this year’s Inter-House Athletics.
The aspirant chefs in the Grade 12 Consumer Studies class showcased their culinary skills in their final cooking practical’s this week. Cooking and baking with flair, they presented mouth-watering creations like master chefs. Well done, ladies!!
